Editorial standards
These are the standards every page on this site follows — the rules we hold ourselves to, stated plainly enough that you can check us against them. Related: how we test, disclosure & independence, about us.
Scores are earned, never sold
Ranking placement follows the published category rubric — no paid placements, no preferred positioning, no score adjustments for commercial relationships. When our parent company works with a manufacturer whose products we rank, the products compete under exactly the same published weights as everyone else.
Seed scores are labeled
Until a model completes our physical bench protocol, its score is a seed draft: derived from verified listing specs, published EnergyGuide data and aggregated owner ratings. Every seed entry says so on its profile, and bench-tested entries state what was measured.
Prices must be verifiable
A price appears on this site only when we can verify it against the seller's own data at page view. Out-of-stock listings carry a stock state, not a number. When a price cannot be verified, we show no price rather than a stale one.
Sources are cited
Specs come from the dealer listing and the manufacturer's official product page — never from marketing summaries. Review excerpts are quoted verbatim with attribution and a link; we do not paraphrase other outlets' words into our own.
Negative coverage is not stripped
When independent reviewers criticize a product we rank, that criticism appears in its coverage section. Curating away the unflattering is the oldest trick in affiliate publishing; we do the opposite.
Recalls and safety are surfaced
When a product we track is subject to a manufacturer recall or safety action, the affected profiles state it — recall status outranks any score consideration.
AI assistance is disclosed and checked
Some research on this site is machine-assisted (catalog harvesting, media verification). Every published claim passes human editorial review, and our factual-audit tooling cross-checks prose claims against source data on every build.
Corrections within 48 hours
Verified corrections are fixed within 48 hours and noted in the page changelog. Material changes to a ranking are recorded in its public changelog with dates.
